Thoughts – mid nov. 2025

Well, well, well.

I have not posted for 2 years and 1 day. I could provide some excuses, but I can’t think of any aside from lethargy. Our Buckeyes have done a couple things over the last 2 years. Maybe we should do a recap? Great idea, bro!

Let’s head back to mid-November, 2023. And we’ll pick up where I left off…

11/18/2023 – a 37-3 victory over Minnesota! Kyle McCord threw 2td, one to Marvin Harrison Jr, and one to Cade Stover. TreVeyon Henderson had 15 carries for 146yd and 2td. A nice tune-up for Michigan!

11/25/2025 – The 2nd-ranked Buckeyes head to Ann Arbor to take on the 3rd-ranked Wolverines. And we lose. 30-24. We cut it to 27-24 with 8 min left, but a late field goal seals it. FUTURE VISION: Jim Harbaugh is now an NFL coach. The NCAA gave him a 10-year show cause penalty, which is basically a lifetime ban from college football.

Bowl Game 2023 – We end up in the Cotton Bowl, playing against Missouri. And we lose 14-3. Someone had a conversation with Kyle McCord and told him he wasn’t going to be the QB next year. So, he transferred outta there before this bowl game even happened. And it showed! Lincoln Keinholz was 6 for 17 for 86 yards.

Michigan beat Iowa in the B1G Championship game and went into the college football playoff as the 1-seed and 13-0. They proceeded to beat Alabama in the semi-final 27-20 and Washington in the final 34-13 and won the national title. And now we have to hear about JJ McCarthy until the end of time.

In the NFL Draft, 4 Buckeyes were taken:

  • Marvin Harrison Jr. was picked 4th overall by the Arizona Cardinals. Some troubles catching the ball, but in 1.5 seasons he’s close to 100 receptions and has 12td.
  • DT Michael Hall – round 2, pick 54 by the Cleveland Browns. 10 games played, 1 sack, 14 tackles.
  • Cade Stover – round 4, pick 123 by the Houston Texans. 16 games, 19 catches, 1td.
  • Tommy Eichenberg – round 5, pick 148 by the Las Vegas Raiders. 23 games, 25 tackles.

The Bucks went into the portal and were rumored to be in the Cam Ward sweepstakes before signing (signing?) Will Howard. Coach Ryan Day convinced some guys that could have gone pro to say.

“The best roster money can buy!” Pat McAfee and others gleefully exclaimed. I would be very interested in a yearly listing of each team’s payroll. I haven’t seen that anywhere, so perhaps I can figure it out. $20M was the reported amount. Apparently, 1 year later, Texas’ payroll is $40M.

At any rate, the Buckeyes went into the season looking pretty good and ranked #2. 5 games later we’re 5-0. 230 points for, 34 points against. We go to #3Oregon and lose 32-31. Will Howard slid about a second too late to try a field goal. It was a character builder. We play shaky against Nebraska and then go to #3 Penn State and beat those sumbitches. We keep on cruising until the boys from Ann Arbor come to town.

We lose 13-10 and limp into the first ever 12-team playoff. Some notes:

  • It was a weird time in the capital city. There was wild speculation about Ryan Day’s job. There were insane people saying Deion Sanders was going to take over.
  • UM decided it would be a good idea to plant a flag at the 50-yard line. Jack Sawyer thought differently, perhaps lighting a fire under the team going forward.
  • True Freshman Jeremiah Smith caught a TD against UM and, after the playoff, would be considered the best player in the country. If he was draft-eligible, Todd McShay said he would be the first pick in the 2025 draft.
  • The Bucks had 3 weeks to lick their wounds, deal with the lunatic fringe, and get ready for Tennessee.

Game 1: Tennessee comes to town. It’s very cold. A playoff game! In the horseshoe! The Tennessee football team is shirtless, for some reason. It was basically over in the first quarter. 2tds each for Smith, TreVeyon Henderson, and Quinshon Judkins.

Game 2: An OSU-Oregon rematch in the Rose Bowl! The granddaddy of them all. This one was also over very quickly. 34-8 at halftime. Smith had 2td. TreVeyon had 2. And 1 for Emeka. A fun fact from this game. In Q3, Oregon’s Noah Wittington ran for a TD, and the extra point was kicked by Atticus Sappington. There you have it. On to the semi-final!

Game 3: Back in the Cotton Bowl. Buckeyes vs. Texas. 2 of the great plays in Buckeye history. At the end of the first half, TreVeyon Henderson catches a screen pass, turns on the turbo boosters to run 75 yards in approximately 3.4 seconds, and makes it 14-7. Fast-forward to Q4, 2:30 left. We’re up 21-14. Former Buckeye Quinn Ewers is in the Red Zone. Jack Sawyer zooms in and pulls off the sack-forced-fumble-83-yard-fumble-return-TD. 28-14. Bucks vs. Irish, for all the marbles.

Game 4: ND vs. OSU. Mercedes Benz stadium, in Hotlanta. ND scores first. Bucks score 31 straight (1td from Smith, then 3 from Judkins). ND makes it interesting in the 2nd half, making it 31-23. Then Emeka Egbuka says “Guys, we should throw a deep ball to the best player in the country.” And we do. Smith with a big catch and then we seal it with a field goal. Champs!

14 Buckeyes get drafted – each of whom is the best player in NFL history.

  1. Emeka Egbuka
  2. Donovan Jackson
  3. Tyleik Williams
  4. Josh Simmons
  5. Quinshon Judkins
  6. TreVeyon Henderson
  7. JT Tuimoloau
  8. Cody Simon
  9. Lathan Ransom
  10. Jack Sawyer
  11. Ty Hamilton
  12. Jordan Hancock
  13. Denzel Burke
  14. Will Howard

So, the 2025 season gets started. We get the season kicked off by beating #1 Texas. Julian Sayin is our QB and is currently the favorite to win the Heisman trophy. Jeremiah Smith is still the best player in the country. Arvell Reese might be the #1 pick in next years draft. Caleb Downs is still here crushing it. Sonny Styles is the man. Carnell Tate is the perfect complement to Smith and will make lots of money next year. Oh, and we’re 9-0, ranked #1, and people are predicting a repeat title.

So, we’re the new Alabama. We’re sure to crush Michigan in a few weeks. And crush Indiana in the B1G title game. And win 4 more games to win it all. We will defeat Texas A&M in the final! What could go wrong?
